A punishing schedule of coaching and tournaments accomplished with some other great experiences. Eco Bricks, Safari and meet Jack, the eight week old rhino!

Image
The Community project involved collecting plastic litter from streets around the Rugby Club - the photo showing the mound of litter is what we collected in an hour and a half! This was then stuffed in to discarded bottles to make eco-bricks used in local construction projects. C Is That A Magpie? By Matt Long Good evening ladies and gents, thankfully the sun rose once more that blessed us with bundles of joy and jubilance.  After a wonderfully warm shower, I guzzled down some golden corn flakes which nicely set us up for the morning of plastic accumulating.  We joined Solomans' army as we paraded proudly around the streets of Livingstone, taking every opportunity to annihilate plastic waste.  After a 90 minute circuit of the city we arrived at the Rugby club and we began eco-bricking, morning done! We returned to the ranch to fuel up before setting off on an afternoon of mammal monitoring, as if by magic 3 jeeps ar...

Blog Extra: The sights, sounds and smells of Africa!

Image
Good Morning to All Just a few notes as I had to get up early to move our minibus to allow an overland truck to get out of the compound. You can never pick up on the true Africa from television programmes - it is only when you are there that the sight, sounds and smells really come over.  So when I went in to the boys room yesterday the true assault on the senses became a reality!!!! Holding my breath for that long was a challenge! On a more healthy note a few more images form yesterday: Eco brick manufacturing and Safari experience today! Chris

Livingstone Tournament , the last one!! Zambezi River Cruise

Tournament Day By Hal Williams Hello all, today was an early start as our dorm woke up at 5.40am because of the wrong alarm!  We got to the rugby pitches at 7.30, the teams slowly rolled in and around 20 teams turned up.  We reffed until around 1.30 and gave our second polo shirts to the winners and gave all the spare kit to the schools.  We had classic cheese/ham sandwiches and at 3.45 we traveled to the sunset cruise and ate food and got to see crocodiles, hippos and elephants.  The views were stunning and the trip was different, but enjoyable experience. Our Last Tournament and River Cruise by Libby Earl Hi to everyone reading this it's Libby here.  Today was our last tournament of the trip, we woke up, had breakfast and left.  I was feeling especially energized today as I have had an unusual craving for peanut butter and the other day I was able to get my hands on some at the supermarket....

Last day of training and Victoria Falls!! (and another candle lit dinner!)

Image
Victoria Falls By Eva Roberts After being woken up by the sound of the church bells we had breakfast and headed out to coach for the final time.  When we arrived, all the amazing kids were raring and ready to go, all trying their hardest to be picked for the final tournament.  The kids were so cute and even though being exhausted I loved every second of it. After saying goodbye to the kids, we then headed back to the hotel and ate some lovely cheese rolls (my fave).  We then set off to Victoria Falls and on our way saw a family of elephants.  When we arrived we were greeted by some cheeky baboons trying to steal our stuff.  We then looked around the little markets and of course I bought a lot of things I do not need!  We then made our way down to Victoria Falls through the most beautiful rainforest over all the rocks (Mum would not have enjoyed it!!).  We then saw the bottom of the waterfall and even paddled in th...
