Sunday – Ava Matthews – Going to the elephant orphanage

Today was the most chilled out day we’ve had on the trip so far. (it was amazing!) the previous night after a long tournament we were told to have a lay in as we needed to leave for the elephant orphanage at 10.30 which is a very big change for me, usually needing to set my Bruno Mars alarm for 5.30. Anyways as me and Georgie have now found we are used to getting up early we woke up at 6.00. After we were ready to leave we were surprised by an amazing full English breakfast which I’m literally still dreaming about now. After that we left to go see the baby elephants and we watched them gallop through the gates into their pen to get fed 2 litres of it apparently which they would just gulp down immediately (which we found very impressive) we learnt so much about the elephants and one of the keepers of the place opened our eyes on how badly the elephants were treated before they were rescued and as well as why their parents would have been hunted for their tusks and materialistic items that come from an elephant. After the elephant orphanage we left to go to the camp and me and Georgie just chilled and played a bit of uno and just talked and had fun. We then finished our amazing chill day by being treated to pizza hut which just added to the best day ever (apart from all the weirdos that got pineapple and ham) I’m having an amazing time in Zambia and I think it’s so good for me and Georgie. I miss all my family and friends and I love you so much.

Tiyana – Elephant excitement

Today I woke up at 6.30 despite having an 8.30 “lie in” I then leisurely woke up, washed my hair and got ready for the day ahead which included seeing an elephant sanctuary. This was very refreshing as yesterday we had a 5.30 start due to the tournament in which I met my new favourite person Morris, a loveable person I taught that competed in the tournament. After getting ready I woke up Libby and we began to get ready to leave for the elephant orphanage. This was a very eye opening experience as we all got to learn something new and got to see the elephants in their natural habitat. After this we were given the rest of the day to relax and wait for pizza. Millie, Eva, Sophie and I all lay in the shade and had a relaxing rest of the day.

I miss you all very, very much and I can’t wait to see you all soon, my perfect mother I cant wait to see you and Tori…. And even Sophia. Miss you so much father Vaughn, love you sooo much and see you all soon. Xxx

Ella B – English breakfast and elephants

It’s been way too long since I haven’t woken up before 6.30. we didn’t have a tournament today so we were able to lie in for  bit, but Maisy and I decided that it would be a good idea to wash our clothes before breakfast so I guess we didn’t get much of a lie I after all. We ate breakfast at 9.00 which was a full English breakfast and although I love a good bowl of cereal, to have a proper breakfast was exactly what I needed. After breakfast we went to the Lilayi elephant orphanage where we got to see baby elephants and hear their stories as well as seeing the elephant we adopted, Kasawe! Back at the camp we ate lunch and everyone played cards outside our chalet and I can proudly say I won both trumps and spoons (played with sachets of coffee instead of spoons) after a long afternoon of card games and competitiveness we ate pizzas in the bar which were delicious. I’m having a really fun time and I love you all lots. Please give Hector a cuddle from me!
